Niagara Falls: From the Sublime to the Ridiculous is an installation by Wendy Woon that explores the historical complexities and dualities of Niagara Falls, where five generations of her family lived. The opening chapter of a twenty-year project, this installation considers themes of desire, power, balance, vision, and survival as it relates personal histories to this iconic landscape.

Artists Corey Devon Arthur, Sasha Chavchavadze, Christina Kelly, Angela Kramer, Karen Mainenti, JoAnne McFarland, and Larry Weekes offer work that explores the pathos and power of forgotten narratives and lives. The exhibition is an overview of Footnote projects—past, present and future.

Considered mere eyesores today, the first suburban shopping malls were examples of exemplary design: innovative civic architecture created to foster a sense of shared community. Against the background of the recent rezoning of the Gowanus neighborhood, this exhibition explores the optimism of urban planning against the eventual decline of these utopian dreams.
Brooklyn Utopias: Along the Canal

Interpreting the past can be a catalyst for change in a utopian community. Artifacts can reveal important lost narratives, or toxic systems of gender, class and race that must be reckoned with. This collaborative installation includes artifacts from the Hall of Gowanus, a community-curated collection gathered during walks along the canal.
Best and Brightest: Redefining Excellence

Presented in collaboration with Artpoetica Project Space, Best and Brightest: Redefining Excellence uses art and artifacts to express new concepts of excellence rooted in community and collaboration. The exhibition also looks back at earlier hierarchical forms of excellence that rewarded the few while neglecting everyone else, often proving ruinous across space and time.
